Persuasion
Persuasion
They say a man has come to town,
A masked deceiver, Devil’s crown,
Don’t cross his way, for he’s not one to play.
He’s got a bag full of silver, a bag full of gold.
He’ll buy your dreams then he’ll take your soul.
He’s got a gun inside his coat
To persuade you not to vote,
Dissenting voices, trampled underfoot.
With his bag full of silver, his bag full of gold,
He’ll seal their lips, while crushing their souls
Now every time I see these towns,
The width and breadth they’re all around,
Cookie cutter towns,
Forlorn frowns
And I say, he’s been this way,
With his bag full of silver,
his bag full of gold,
He’s bought their dreams and taken their souls.
